Deep tissue technique focuses on muscle layers below the surface that may be contributing to chronic issues. Targeted, deep pressure over time can stimulate a relaxation response in tissues that don't respond to other techniques. This modality utilizes focused pressure from elbows, fists and intense petrissage. Sometimes stretching is added while the tissue is held in place under pressure which allows for an even deeper release.
Advanced Myofascial Release technique targets muscle fascia, a connective tissue that weaves throughout muscle and bone and literally connects the parts of the body into a whole. Poor quality fascia can cause stiffness or pain in the body's tissues, and over time this can cause muscular dysfunction or postural issues. Treating fascia can help restore sliding surfaces in the muscle systems and can help improve biomechanics, both of which reduce pain.
Passive inputs (like foam rolling, static stretching) yield passive, temporary results. If long term changes to our physiology are the goal (e.g. dysfunctional joints, chronic pain and weak tissues), then specific, active training inputs are required. Developing and expanding useable ranges of motion, strengthening our joints and controlling our bodies are the outcome measures of Functional Range Conditioning®. Request a Mobility Tune Up today to learn how Functional Range Systems® can help create lasting changes to how you feel and move in your body.
